Rug Cleaning in Haw Creek
Collection and delivery in Haw Creek are included. We take the rug back to the workshop, wash it properly, and bring it home.
What Haw Creek is built from
A quiet east Asheville valley behind Beaucatcher Mountain, running up toward the Blue Ridge Parkway. Post-war ranches and split-levels on the valley floor, later houses climbing both sides of it, and a high proportion of walk-out basements and lower levels cut straight into the slope.
Families and long-term owners who like being ten minutes from town and surrounded by trees. Rugs in the lived-in rooms upstairs and, very often, the older and better ones downstairs where they are out of the way.
The Haw Creek problem
Haw Creek is the clearest case of the basement problem on the route. A lower level cut into a hillside has earth against three walls at a steady cool temperature, and that wall stays a moisture source in every season. Put a wool rug on the slab in front of it and you have the coldest, dampest, stillest surface in the house holding an absorbent object against it. Nobody goes down there for weeks at a time, so it is found late. The valley itself compounds it: cool air drains down the sides overnight and sits on the floor of the valley, and this is a wooded catchment, so leaf litter, creek damp and mountain grit all arrive at the door together.
If that sounds like your rug, send the form and describe what you are seeing. We will tell you whether it needs the full treatment or not.
